Cartaya, Busch, Pages and DeLuca make Dodgers 40-man roster

Catcher selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers Diego Cartaya, infielder Michael Busch, as well as outfielders Andy Pages and Jonny DeLuca for the 40-man roster men, according to a team announcement. This quartet is now protected from being caught up in next month’s Draft Rule 5.

It’s a remarkable group to join the list of 40 players. Cartaya, Busch and Pages, in particular, are among Baseball America’s top 100 prospects in the gamewith Cartaya scoring a particularly impressive placement at No. 9 overall:

Cartaya, 21, split his 2022 season between Class A and Class A, where he was significantly younger than the league average at both levels. The age difference didn’t stop him, however, as he delivered a combined .254/.389/.503 batting line with 22 home runs and doubles.

The 6-foot-1, 220-pound Venezuelan Cartaya is considered a work in progress with the glove, but he has plenty of raw power and an eye to the plate, as evidenced by a walk rate above 14.% in 2022 .

I’m a King of Sports fan, especially the Boston Red Sox in MLB, and all Mexican baseball in general. This job gave me the opportunity to cover major events such as the Caribbean Series, LMB All Star, LMP (continuous since 2009), signings of important players. I was lucky enough to attend the 2013 World Classic in Arizona, USA, but as an amateur. Apart from this beautiful sport, I love basketball, where I also narrated games and even an NBA friendly game 10 years ago, but baseball is in my veins. Graduated in Communication Sciences from the Autonomous University of Sinaloa (UAS), from where I graduated in 2011. I was born in Mazatlán, Sinaloa and I started in the world of sports journalism in 2004 in the newspaper El Sol from Mazatlán, where I was both a baseball columnist and a journalist. In January 2009 I arrived in El Debate as a journalist reporter and it took almost six years (in the first stage), until November 2014 I emigrated to radio, offering my services to Línea Directa- RSN Group. My cycle there ended in July 2019 and a few days later El Debate gave me another opportunity to work and opened the doors for me again. This is how I came to Al Bat, where I have been since 2019 as a web journalist.
