Catcher selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers Diego Cartaya, infielder Michael Busch, as well as outfielders Andy Pages and Jonny DeLuca for the 40-man roster men, according to a team announcement. This quartet is now protected from being caught up in next month’s Draft Rule 5.
It’s a remarkable group to join the list of 40 players. Cartaya, Busch and Pages, in particular, are among Baseball America’s top 100 prospects in the gamewith Cartaya scoring a particularly impressive placement at No. 9 overall:
Cartaya, 21, split his 2022 season between Class A and Class A, where he was significantly younger than the league average at both levels. The age difference didn’t stop him, however, as he delivered a combined .254/.389/.503 batting line with 22 home runs and doubles.

The 6-foot-1, 220-pound Venezuelan Cartaya is considered a work in progress with the glove, but he has plenty of raw power and an eye to the plate, as evidenced by a walk rate above 14.% in 2022 .
